The world’s oldest people live here

Methuselah was 969 years old when he died, according to the Bible.

Methuselah was the son of Enoch and the grandfather of Noah. He is mentioned in the Book of Genesis as the oldest person who ever lived. His name has become synonymous with longevity, and he is often used as an example of the biblical patriarchs’ long lifespans.

There are a number of different theories about why Methuselah lived so long. Some believe that it was a gift from God, while others believe that it was due to the fact that he lived in a time when people had a much longer lifespan. There is also some speculation that Methuselah’s age may have been symbolic, rather than literal.

Regardless of the reason, Methuselah’s long life is a testament to the power of God and the mystery of human existence.

But where do the people who currently live the longest reside?
And how do they get to that age?

Have you ever heard the term Blue Zones?

Blue Zones are regions of the world where people live exceptionally long and healthy lives. The term was coined by Dan Buettner, a National Geographic Fellow and New York Times bestselling author. Buettner identified five Blue Zones around the world: Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Loma Linda, California; Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica; and Ikaria, Greece.

In his book, The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who’ve Lived the Longest, Buettner outlines nine common lifestyle habits that the people in Blue Zones share:

  1. Move naturally: Blue Zoners are constantly moving, whether it’s gardening, walking, or biking.
  2. Purpose: Blue Zoners have a strong sense of purpose in their lives.
  3. Downsizing: Blue Zoners eat smaller meals and eat less meat than Americans.
  4. Plant slant: Blue Zoners eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  5. 80% rule: Blue Zoners stop eating when they feel 80% full.
  6. Loved ones first: Blue Zoners make time for their loved ones and put their families first.
  7. Belong: Blue Zoners belong to strong social networks.
  8. Stress less: Blue Zoners have healthy ways to manage stress, such as napping and spending time in nature.
  9. Right tribe: Blue Zoners live in environments that support healthy living.

These folks live into their 90s, 100s, and 110s. Taking care of your body can give you the best opportunity to reach 100.  Imagine the adventures you can have with that number of years.
